Where I Learn What I Know

In all honesty, I do not keep up with the news that much. I used to pick up and read the paper every now and then, but now I do not even usually do that. I have a very superficial understanding of what is going on in the world today. The bulk of what I know about what is going on is from other people such as my parents who might discuss some of the major topics every now and then at dinner or sometimes when I go up to Hester's gym they will have the news on and I will be able to look at the major headlines. However, even though I can tell you that there is a lot of concern about things such as the H1N1 virus and things such as the economy, I could not go into very much detail about any of them. I read the NY Times for the first time last night and learned many new things just in about twenty to thirty minutes. If you count looking up stuff for school on groupwise and ulink as news, I guess you could say I use the internet for news. Now that we will be reading the NY Times for class that should be a major source of where I get my info. Other such media that many people use to get news such as the radio, I do not use. When I listen to the radio, I look for music, and if their is not any music, I will usually just turn it off. I think I need to start learning more about what is going on, and I think that this class will help me with that a lot.

  1. I also feel like I should be paying more attention to what is happening in the world today. It really is a lot to keep up with though.
